PhotoRobot Academy Certifications

Eleven certification tracks across five role groups. Each credential documents platform fluency at certification date — a clear, time-bounded signal for hiring managers, B2B partners, and recruiters. Two-year validity with optional refresh-exam extension keeps credentials current.

What a PhotoRobot Academy certification is

A PhotoRobot Academy certificate documents that a holder has:

Certificates are time-bounded — valid for two years from issuance. Holders extend by passing a refresh exam before expiry; refresh failures or skipped refresh expire the credential cleanly.

The model is deliberately aligned with industry practice — closest analogues are professional photography credentials, technical product certifications (Cisco, AWS, Salesforce), and trade specialty certifications. The intent is the same: a clear, recognised signal that a holder knows the system at a documented depth.

The 11 cert tracks at a glance

PhotoRobot Academy ships eleven cert tracks grouped into three families.

Foundational tracks (6)

The core role credentials. Most operators start with Operator Standard; specialists branch from there.

Track Audience Modules Total time Pass Refresh
Operator Standard Day-to-day PhotoRobot studio operators 12 ~14 h 65 % 75 %
Studio Manager Essentials Studio managers owning workflow + customer-coordination 6 (3 shared with Operator) ~6 h 70 % 75 %
Integrator Essentials Developers wiring PhotoRobot into ERP / PIM / DAM / e-commerce 8 ~12 h 70 % 75 %
Network Specialist Essentials IT specialists running multi-site PhotoRobot studio networks 3 ~4 h 70 % 75 %
Hardware Specialist Essentials Hardware engineers installing + maintaining PhotoRobot equipment 3 ~4 h 70 % 75 %
Instructor Certification (CI) Certified instructors delivering Academy curriculum 4 ~6 h 75 % 80 %

Specialty tracks (5)

Domain-specific depth that stacks on top of one or more foundational certs.

Track Audience Modules Total time Pass Refresh
OCR Specialist Integrators going compliance-grade in OCR-heavy domains 4 ~5 h 70 % 75 %
3D Modeling Specialist Operators / SMEs producing photogrammetry 3D content 4 ~5 h 70 % 75 %
PINK Specialist Device operators at clinics running the PINK clinical mastectomy turntable 4 ~5 h 75 % 80 %
Virtual Catwalk Specialist Fashion-studio operators on PhotoRobot Catwalk (motorised turntable + treadmill belt) — equipment-gated 4 ~4.5 h 70 % 70 %
Carpet Photography Specialist Studios running PhotoRobot Carpet Studio (Carousel 3000/5000 + 7-camera rig) — equipment-gated 4 ~4.5 h 70 % 75 %

Equipment-gated = enrollment requires PhotoRobot sales verification that the customer’s studio has the relevant specialty hardware installed. Theoretical certs without operational hardware behind them are not in our model.

Higher pass thresholds on PINK + Instructor + PINK refresh reflect the discipline these roles demand (PINK = clinical context with patient safety considerations; Instructor = teaching others requires higher mastery).

How to choose the right cert

Most students start with Operator Standard — the entry-level credential. From there:

Path: studio-floor career

Operator StandardStudio Manager Essentials (when moving into team lead / workflow design) → optionally specialty track per studio’s domain (OCR for compliance work, 3D Modeling for AR / e-commerce, etc.)

Path: technical / infrastructure career

Operator StandardHardware Specialist Essentials (installation + maintenance) OR Network Specialist Essentials (multi-site networking) → both possible for deep technical role

Path: integration / developer career

Operator StandardIntegrator Essentials → optionally OCR Specialist for compliance-heavy customer engagements

Path: instructor / curriculum delivery

Operator Standard + Studio Manager Essentials (recommended) + 5+ shipped production engagements → Instructor Certification (CI) → optionally CD (Course Director, governance + curriculum design)

Path: specialty-vertical career

Operator Standard → specialty track that fits customer base:

See the Specialty Tracks roadmap for full per-track scope + the Cross-Specialty Stacking guide for customer-scenario combinations.

Refresh model — keeping certs current

PhotoRobot certs are valid for 2 years from issuance. Before the 2-year expiry, holders take a refresh exam to extend validity another 2 years.

Refresh exam vs initial cert exam

Dimension Initial cert exam Refresh exam
Questions 25–50 depending on track 12–25 depending on track
Time 45–90 min 25–45 min
Pass threshold 65–75 % depending on track 75–80 % (higher than initial)
Hands-on requirement Required (where applicable) Not required (cert holder already proved hands-on)
Scope Full curriculum Critical topics + recent updates

The higher refresh pass threshold reflects the expectation that practising cert holders should retain core knowledge + have sharpened (not eroded) judgment. Refresh exams emphasise areas where bad habits typically develop without periodic re-grounding.

What if refresh isn’t taken before expiry?

What if refresh exam is failed?

Where to take the exams

Phase A (current — late 2026)

Exam pools are published on this Academy site at /quiz/certifications/<cert>/ and /quiz/refresh/<cert>/. Phase A delivers exams via PhotoRobot sales coordination — students arrange with sales who confirms enrollment + sends access credentials for instructor-verified exam sessions.

For the Operator Standard track specifically, a free placement test is available without enrollment at /quiz/placement-operator.html (since v0.20.0) — 8 questions, no pass/fail, instructor uses your answers to calibrate cohort pace.

Phase B (planned — v0.6+)

Self-service exam delivery via worker-backed interactive quiz engine:

See enrollment-flow architectural spec for Phase B implementation detail.

Hands-on requirement

Most certs require instructor-verified hands-on completion before cert exam access:

Why hands-on matters: PhotoRobot capture isn’t a textbook discipline. Real equipment behaviour, real customer engagement dynamics, real session pace are what the cert credentials. Pure-online certs without hands-on don’t credentially what they claim to credential.

Cert pricing — overview

Each cert track has its own pricing model, set by PhotoRobot sales per engagement scope. General patterns:

Per-student pricing (Klecany open-enrollment cohorts)

Listed at /public-sessions.html. Suitable for individual learners, small teams, organisations whose internal sessions can’t be scheduled for the cohort timing.

Custom engagement pricing (B2B)

Negotiated with PhotoRobot sales per customer scope:

Internal PhotoRobot staff

Internal sessions for PhotoRobot employees + partners are typically free — investment in PhotoRobot’s own ecosystem quality. Same cert exam + hands-on requirements.
